Mpact Recycling celebrates Global Recycling Day 2023

The company's efforts have contributed significantly to reducing waste, preserving natural resources, and promoting sustainability and circularity. Not only is this positive for the environment and the wider community, but also beneficial to the economy, creating a significant number of jobs and income opportunities.

As the world marks the sixth annual Global Recycling Day we are reminded of the ever-growing importance of the need to protect our environment – be it at the legislative, business or individual level. This day, celebrated on 18 March every year, is a recycling initiative that encourages the public to look at disposable waste in a new light and the theme is ‘Creative Innovation’.

In addition to its recycling operations, Mpact Recycling runs various community-facing programmes, such as the Ronnie Recycler Schools Programme, which educates young learners about recycling and sustainability. The company has also established community drop-off sites and a Residential Estates Recycling Programme, providing convenient access to recycling facilities for individuals and communities across the country. In this article, we are taking a look at waste that is not recyclable here in South Africa. Take a look at the poster on the next page which covers the issue of non-recyclables that sometimes end up in the bags we collect on a weekly basis. Familiarise yourself with them and if in doubt, print and put it on your fridge.

Mpact Recycling is proud to celebrate Global Recycling Day and encourages everyone to join the recycling movement and contribute to a more sustainable future for our planet.
